An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust for a dynamic and enthusiastic Specialist Doctor in Emergency Medicine with positions available at both The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) and the Princess Royal Hospital (PRH). It is an opportunity to join a friendly and dynamic hospital team with a range of specialty interests and an excellent reputation for providing an educational and supportive environment. The post is ideal for doctors looking to develop clinical competency to progress their career into a Consultant role or for someone who is looking for a permanent post in an expanding department who is enthused by quality improvements.

The successful candidates will work within our Emergency Departments, one of which, has a Trauma Unit Status, alongside our motivated and committed teams, contributing to the growth and development of the workforce and services, in creating and delivering the future vision of the organisation.

The post-holder will have responsibilities to both sites according to service requirements.

The main aim of these posts is to work with other senior medical and nursing staff to deliver first-class Emergency Medicine services for the Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales areas.  The job attracts a 10 PA contract, 7.5 clinical (including 1PA for on-call activities) and 2.5 SPA. Additional PAs are available with agreement from the Clinical Director and Operations Manager and will be renewable on a yearly basis.

Organisational

  • To work with local managers and professional colleagues in the employing Trust in the efficient running of the service.
  • To be subject to the provisions of the Terms and Conditions of Service, be required to observe the Trust’s agreed policies and procedures, drawn up in consultation with the profession on clinical matters and to follow the local and national employment and personnel policies and procedures.
  • To participate in the Continuous Professional Development and the Trust’s appraisal scheme.
  • To be aware of the responsibility of all employees to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors and staff and attend all relevant health and safety training.
  • Ensure that all Trust-wide standards are maintained to improve the quality of total care to all who come into contact with services provided by Shrewsbury and Telford hospital NHS Trust.
