An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Support Medical Secretary to provide a valuable support service to our Cardiology Secretaries at The Princess Royal Hospital.  The post is Band 3 and the successful candidate will be working 37.5 hours per week. 

You will be able to demonstrate good communication skills, flexibility, and reliability and have an organised approach to work.  Working alongside other Medical Secretaries, the post would provide an excellent opportunity for development and progression for a motivated candidate. 

Qualifications: You will hold RSA level 3 or equivalent and you must possess excellent audio typing skills.  Educated to GSCE level or equivalent.  Experience within a medical environment is desirable but is not essential.

There may be a typing test at the time of interview.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will produce accurate clinical and general correspondence, regularly using complex and sensitive medical terminology from audio transcription.  You will also be required to respond to telephone calls from anxious and distressed patients, responding appropriately to contentious, sensitive and difficult enquiries.  The successful applicant will gain valuable experience within a busy Medical Secretaries office and will provide an excellent opportunity for development and progression for a motivated candidate. 

Working for our organisation

The successful applicant will join a busy team currently comprising of Higher Level Medical Secretaries and Support Medical Secretaries.  The post holder is a pivotal person in the patient’s relationship with the hospital, the clinical team and the Consultants.  The team support each other to organise the workload of the Consultants within the department and ensure that an efficient service is provided.
