Job Overview

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for three highly specialist Nurses to join the Colorectal team based at the Community Diagnostic Centre at Hollinswood House predominantly coordinating the care of patients with cancer. 

The post holder will:

  • develop and validate a new diagnosis pathway along with validating the existing database of patients.
  • provide and facilitate education in conjunction with developing clinician and patient information.
  • ensure that appropriate patients are relisted and discussed at MDT along.
  • ensure that all appropriate patients receive information about management of their condition and are enrolled on the trial where appropriate.
  • be actively involved in nursing issues around the delivery of cancer care and to reflect local and national requirements.

Funding for these posts is secured for a fixed term for 12 months.

We are looking for someone who is ready to develop their clinical and leadership skills, who has experience in a higher-level nursing post and is keen to hit the ground running to ensure we can make the most of this opportunity.  

Main duties of the job

  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary teams to develop and monitor the patient’s pathway for patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer.
  • Be a resource for developing education and awareness for surveillance and management of colorectal cancer.
  • Work towards developing a robust database that ensures all patients are informed about the trial.
  • Work within the NMC code.
  • To ensure that all local and national HR policies, procedures and guidelines are adhered to

You will join the team of eight experienced nurses (a combination of Band 7 and Band 6 colleagues) based at The Shrewsbury and Telford Trust who comprise the current Colorectal CNS team and a further team of Project Manager, Lead Nurse, Clinical Nurse Specialists and Secretarial support based at Hollinswood House.
