If your answer is yes to any of the above, then we have an exciting opportunity available within our Pharmacy Department at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH), for a  Clinical Pharmacist working collaboratively with Shropshire Community Health Trust within the rehabilitation and recovery setting based on SaTH premises. This is a brand new role within our Trust where we are looking to provide a new service to our patients who require input in the rehabilitation and recovery setting,  working as part of a strong clinical pharmacy team focused on this point in the patient’s journey.

In place already we have a team  including a dedicated Pharmacy Technician and Pharmacy Assistant Technical Officer, and we are seeking to complete this team by recruiting a motivated, innovative, clinically driven Pharmacist who wants to make a difference. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

  • Be a specialist clinical pharmacist delivering a high level of clinical pharmacy input for those patients within the rehabilitation and recovery setting.
  • Be the Pharmacist for the day-to-day delivery of a consistently high clinical pharmacy service for those patients within the rehabilitation and recovery setting. The service will be delivered in conjunction with rotational clinical pharmacists and medicine management Pharmacy Technicians and will include daily ward visits, participation in ward rounds and teaching of medical, nursing and less experienced pharmacy staff
  • Work with the Advanced Specialist Pharmacist Team - Rehabilitation and Recovery (PRH) on the development of Clinical Pharmacy standards across the Trust for those patients within the rehabilitation and recovery setting.
  • Act as a role model for, and be responsible for developing core competencies of any pharmacist working within the rehabilitation and recovery setting and for organising their training and assessing their competence.
  • Work with the Advanced Specialist Pharmacist Team - Rehabilitation and Recovery (PRH) and alongside the Pharmacy Team Leaders – Clinical Services & Governance regarding the operational management and strategic development of pharmaceutical services and to reduce the risk of medication misadventure within the rehabilitation and recovery setting.
