It's been a vibrant month for our Recruitment and Medical People Services (MPS) teams, filled with celebrations, events, and forward-thinking plans. Let's take a look at the highlights!
This month 47 new colleagues joined SaTH, across various departments and specialities. Included in this number are 15 Healthcare Assistants, who will be working across both our Medicine and Surgery divisions providing excellent care to our patients. Please join us in giving a warm welcome to all our new colleagues!
From a Medical perspective, we are pleased to annouce that the interviews held this month were successful, and we will shortly be welcoming two Consultant Oncologists (Clinical) to our workforce.
The Careers Transition Partnership employment fair took place in Telford on 9th May. This was a fantastic event where we connected with many talented individuals from the Armed Forces, now considering a career in healthcare. It was great to meet so many potential future colleagues, and to discuss the variety of roles that are available within the NHS. On the day, we were joined by our colleagues from Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust, furthering our goal to work collaboratively to attract people to work in the NHS in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.
Our MPS team were also out and about this month, attending the Oncology Professional Care Conference in London on the 21st and 22nd May. This was a valuable opportunity to network and showcase the Trust, as well as meet with potential candidates for our roles within Oncology.
A number of International celebration days took place this month - including:
- Intenational Day of the Midwife on May 5th
- International Nurses Day on May 12th
- National Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) Day on May 14th
These days are perfect opportunities for us to celebrate and promote these roles and the vital part they play in the delivery of excellent care to our communities. Various celebrations took place within the Trust as well as on our social media channels - giving thanks to our fantastic teams for all that they do.
We also shared a blog post with guidance on how to become an ODP - still a fairly new role and one that not everyone may be familiar with. Why not have a look and see if a career as an ODP could be for you!
This month also marked the National Day for Staff Networks. Here at SaTH we currently have four staff networks who meet bi-monthly. These networks are crucial in fostering an inclusive environment, providing support, and championing diversity. Our commitment to inclusion is stronger than ever, and we encourage all our colleagues to engage with and support these networks.
In line with our goal to be an inclusive employer, we are now advertising our roles on Forces Families Jobs. This platform supports family members of currently serving UK military personnel to find training, employment and volunteering roles. We're proud to be part of this initiative, ensuring our job opportunities are promoted to all.
Excitingly, all our job listings can now also be found over on Indeed, helping us to reach an even broader audience!
We're thrilled to announce that we conducted interviews for staff nurses to join our Bank team, resulting in 14 offers being made. If you or someone you know is interested in this opportunity but missed the last advert, you can now apply to join our team of Bank Nurses via our website!
The MPS team are also in the process of on-boarding the cohort of post-graduate doctors for our August intake, as well as supporting the divisions with workforce plans for any vacant NHSE posts
