We have an exciting opportunity for a Nursing Assistant to join us to assist the Specialist Nursing staff in the smooth running of the Nursing aspects of the Fertility service. 

The post holder is required to assist the Specialist Fertility Nursing staff in the smooth running of the nursing aspects of the Fertility Service. Although primarily responsible to the nursing team the post holder will be expected to work closely with the specialist scientific and medical teams where necessary. Good communication skills and a strict attention to detail are essential to the proper performance of the post-holders duties as are maintenance of strict confidentiality and high standards of safety and cleanliness.  

The successful applicant will have Gynaecology or Maternity experience and must be phlebotomy and cannulation trained.

Main duties of the job

  • To assist the Nursing and Medical teams during scans, investigations and procedures during the patient's fertility journey.
  • Venepuncture and Phlebotomy training and experience essential.
  • To assist the Fertility team during procedures under sedation.
  • To maintain stock.
  • To cannulate and run Phlebotomy clinics as required.
  • To attend ward meeting, team briefings and be aware and adhere to unit protocols and policies and HFEA requirements.

The Shropshire and Mid Wales Fertility Centre is located off site from the main hospital site at Severn Fields Health village, in a purpose built facility.  We undertake a full range of fertility investigations and treatment for NHS and self funded patients. We are a small and friendly multidisciplinary team of Nurses, Doctors, Scientists and Administration staff.
