An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Housekeeper at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, Shrewsbury.  This position is to work in the Endoscopy Unit. 

We are hoping to recruit into a 30 hour position working over a 7 day week. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking Housekeeper who will work as an integral part of the team ensuring a clean, safe and comfortable environment at all times.

Applicants must have excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to work under non-direct supervision, prioritising your own workload.  It is necessary to have a flexible approach within this role and be able to respond appropriately to the demands of an ever changing workload.

You will need excellent interpersonal skills, as you will be liaising with and helping patients throughout the working day. You will also be required to communicate with all levels of staff both face to face and over the telephone.

The post holder will be expected to take ownership of the stock levels within the department, to include ordering of stock.  You will also be required to maintain a high level of cleanliness within the department.

Main duties of the job

Recent experience in cleaning duties and use of chemicals and equipment is essential along with an awareness of health and safety as you will be working in a demanding environment. You are also required to be IT literate.  Previous experience with stock control and the use of oracle is desirable.

Applicants with previous experience in a health care setting are desirable, however, you will need to demonstrate commitment to developing yourself to support the nursing team in caring for patients and ensuring the patient experience is positive.

The post holder will provide non-clinical support to the unit team carrying out tasks assigned to the individual under the supervision of Registered Nurses.
The essence of the role is to assist in maintaining as safe and clean working environment for patients and 
staff, to support the nutritional needs of patients, and to ensure that stocks and supplies are kept at adequate levels within the ward environment. 
The post holder will have autonomy in the ordering of stores, the reporting of faults and the initiation of works as required ensuring safe and smooth running of the Ward. 
The post holder will attend necessary meetings, feeding back relevant information, action within own scope and share responsibilities with Senior staff to enable them to delegate to the appropriate person.
