This is an exciting opportunity to join the Surgery Secretariat as an MDT secretary, where the post holder will be a pivot person in the patient's relationship with the hospital, Clinical teams and Consultants. 

The post holder will provide a complete medical secretarial and administrative service to the Consultants who lead the MDT for their specialty and any associated activities in relation to this role, majority of which are non routine. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder is expected to work accurately under pressure with the ability to manage and prioritise their own workload, providing and receiving information which may require tact, diplomacy and persuasive skills as there may be barriers to understanding.

Duties will include, but are not limited too, transcribing audio following clinical appointments, attending meetings and actioning MDT Outcomes, contacting patients and answering queries, and building a good working relationship with Consultants Specialty Secretary to provide support and cover where necessary in relation to the MDT workload.

The post holder is a pivotal person in the patient’s relationship with the hospital, the clinical team and the Consultant. The post holder provides a complete medical secretarial and administrative service to the Consultants who Lead MDT for their specialty and the associated activities in relation to this role, majority of which are non routine.  The post holder will assist in the organisation of the Consultant’s MDT Admin and will effectively support the completion of patient letters and necessary actions prior to and following MDT. It is essential that the post holder exercises initiative and independent judgement whilst always maintaining a high level of confidentiality and diplomacy without immediate access to line supervision.

The post holder will be working among various teams of specialty secretaries and will be exposed to a wide range of different processes, procedures and methods of working allowing for greater development and understanding to support progression.
