An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Central Stores Team at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, as a Materials Technician. The post holder will be an integral member of the logistics team, providing materials support to SaTH Wards, Departments, regional GPs and Healthcare Services.  They will be expected to have a good standard of numeracy and literacy skills as they will be required to use warehouse management systems and applications such as Microsoft Excel and Word. 

The post holder will routinely be required to engage and communicate, both electronically and verbally, in a professional and diplomatic manner with a wide range of people, including Trust staff and suppliers. They must be comfortable working as part of a team whilst being physically robust and flexible in approach and able to effectively work independently in this busy store’s environment.

 

Main duties of the job

 

Process Ward / Depts’ requisitions from within Stores stock or by placing demands on the NHS Supply Chain and process credits for any return of stock. Check receipts for damage and accuracy to paperwork ensuring any discrepancies are recorded.  Respond effectively to customer queries regarding stock availability, product details, supply chain difficulties etc.

Deliver products and equipment to Wards & Depts within SaTH; select, collate, pack and send Orders to the wider Healthcare community.  Undertake periodic formal review and report on stock levels within Wards and Depts. Maintain accurate records, filing and reports.  Provide advice on storage and stocking levels for products and data as required to Stores Management.  

Prepare, check and pack goods for internal or onwards distribution.  Communicate effectively on a routine basis with other Trust colleagues in relation to Trust’s requirement for goods.  Identify areas of potential improvements in the delivery of the job and inform management of any Health and Safety concerns immediately.
