A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join the General Surgery Secretary team within the Surgical Centre.  We are looking for motivated and ambitious candidates to provide valuable support to our growing specialty teams 

Applicants should already possess 4 GCSEs (grades 9-4) or equivalent, knowledge of MS office, general office experience and have a helpful nature, approaching tasks with an enthusiastic and focused attitude. 

Main duties of the job

The post holders will undertake general support duties within each team, helping to ensure an efficient and well-rounded service is provided. They will be expected to move around the teams to meet service needs and work accurately to deadlines with the ability to manage and prioritise their own workload, after induction training. 

This will include all aspects of secretarial duties, predominantly audio transcribing patient letters and clinical correspondence, alongside scanning, filing and any other support tasks requested by the Medical Secretaries and Supervisors.

The ability to plan and prioritise a varied workload is essential, as are good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of staff groups at all levels. The successful applicants will work as part of a team and will gain valuable experience in the day-to-day management of busy Medical Secretaries offices.

This is a growing service in the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust and this role will provide vital support to the existing team to ensure we maintain our quality of service to our consultants and, ultimately, to our patients.
