An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen to join us in the new Elective Hub at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford. This brand new purpose built Elective Hub opened on the 10th June this year and we are looking to expand our team to help this new area.  You will be part of a small team of ward clerk and reception staff working to help with the  patient journey through the Elective Hub.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will need to have experience in dealing with the general public,  they will have good IT skills and remain calm under pressure in this challenging role. You will be required to be flexible within the contracted hours.  You will also provide cover for annual leave and sickness.  Full training will be provided for all candidates.

Duties will include;

  • Welcome new patients into the Elective Hub, checking particulars on their records and ensuring notes are in order.  Ensure identity bracelets available for nursing staff.  Compile sets of required blank documentation for elective patients.
  • Answer the telephone, responding to questions or requests as appropriate.
  • Request and collect (or deliver when requested) notes from various departments. 
  • Order transport for patients as requested by nursing staff, competing appropriate paperwork. 
  • Ensure records are sent from the unit correctly compiled and completed following patient discharge.
  • Ensure demographics of admitted, transferred and discharged patients are updated electronically and manually. Ensure that CareFlow demographics accurately reflect the units bed state. 
  • Working with the MDT to ensure the smooth running of the Elective Hub, maintaining high standards at all times, communicating effectively with work colleagues, ensuring health and safety and cleaning standards of your designated area are kept to high standard.
