An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 IBD Biologics Nurse to work within the Gastroenterology Department. You will regularly work cross site within the Trust in collaboration with the IBD Clinical Nurse Specialist, Pharmacists and Gastroenterologists.

The IBD Specialist Nursing Team provides information, education and support to patients with IBD, supporting self-management where appropriate, but providing rapid access to advice, treatment and care as a clinical priority.

The IBD Nursing Team support a telephone service for patients, and hold independent nurse-led clinics. The Team also offer inpatient IBD Nurse support, co-ordinate the management of patients receiving biologic therapies and facilitate and follow up the multi-disciplinary team meetings.

You should have experience in providing care to patients with a diagnosis of Inflammatory bowel disease, with the ability to plan, assess, implement and evaluate patient care. It is essential for you to possess excellent interpersonal skills along with a willingness to learn, with the ability to work effectively and efficiently independently or as part of a team. You should also have an interest in further developing your pharmacology knowledge, and a willingness to engage in research and audit.

Main duties of the job

The biologics specialist nurse role will have an overview of the management of IBD, but particular emphasis will be patients requiring biologic/ immuno-modulator therapy for their inflammatory bowel disease.

They will be responsible for the provision of nurse led clinics .in-patient services and the maintenance of the advice line for this client group. In addition the post holder will contribute to service development through education, research and audit
